Kohr Method Teacher Training is a comprehensive beginner-to-intermediate mat and reformer pilates program. You’ll learn to integrate mat work principles onto the reformer apparatus, teach with clarity and ease, and guide students of all levels through classes that build awareness, strength, and flow.

Become a confident, technically skilled Pilates mat and reformer instructor.

*One applicant will receive full tuition coverage for the Fall 2026 cohort. The scholarship includes the complete training program (valued at $1,500 CAD) at no cost to the recipient. Recipients agree to complete a short contract outlining apprentice teaching hours and a commitment to contribute to the Kohr Method teaching community following certification. To be eligible for scholarship consideration, application and $175 deposit paid by August 31st, 2026. Recipient will be announced on September 15, 2026.

Grounded in the method’s principles — unity, presence, and ease — this program blends comprehensive education in the Pilates system with practical teaching experience and mentorship.

It’s a 10-month, part-time certification that covers the complete beginner-to-intermediate mat and reformer Pilates repertoire. Apprentices learn how to integrate mat work concepts into reformer-based teaching for a functional understanding of movement.

Apprentices graduate with the confidence to design and lead effective Pilates classes, modify for different bodies and abilities, and teach with clarity, control, and flow.

About the program

Total of 200 program hours:

  • 3 weekends - 60 hours

  • OnDemand video - 25 hours

  • Observation - 15 hours

  • Physical Review: 30 hours

  • Practice teaching - 50 hours

  • Additional Hours - 20 hours

*Apprentices are encouraged to complete the majority of their 30 class hours prior to the program start date. Register before June 1st and receive a complimentary 30-class pack to get started.

What you’ll learn

Throughout four intensive training weekends, apprentices study the Pilates mat and reformer repertoire, movement theory, and instructional technique across progressive levels of complexity. Each module builds upon the last — refining your understanding of anatomy, adaptation, cueing, sequencing, class design, and progressions.

Level 0 – Modifications for special populations

You’ll learn:

  • Key anatomical considerations and contraindications.

  • Adaptive sequencing for safety and stability.

  • Integrating foundational mat work for mobility and control.

Level 1 – Foundations of the method

You’ll Learn:

  • Foundational mat and reformer repertoire.

  • Proper setup, transitions, and safe modifications.

  • Verbal, tactile, and visual cueing strategies.

Level 2 – Progression and flow development

You’ll learn:

  • Progression and regression for common reformer and mat exercises.

  • Sequencing techniques that build endurance and focus.

  • Integration of upright and unilateral movement patterns.

  • Observation and correction techniques for optimal form.

Level 3 – Intermediate and advanced applications

You’ll learn:

  • Advanced transition and flow design across apparatus.

  • Cueing for energy, awareness, and pacing.

  • Class design for rhythm, endurance, and control.

  • Integrating mat work concepts for cohesive whole-body teaching.

Each module includes movement labs, cueing drills, supervised practice teaching, and feedback sessions. Apprentices receive detailed manuals and structured mentor support throughout the program.

The journey from student to instructor

Training weekends
(Nov 6, 7, & 8 2026, Dec 4, 5, & 6 2026, & Jan 29, 30, & 31 2027)

3x 20+ hour immersions combining lecture, movement labs, and teaching practice.

There will be a modifications and hands on 3-hour workshop on Saturday, Feb 27, 2027.

Observation & practice
(Nov 2026 - Jan 2027)

Apprentices log observation hours and personal practice sessions to reinforce understanding and develop embodied teaching awareness.

Round-robin teaching
(Feb - Mar 2027)

Apprentices teach within the cohort to apply cueing and sequencing techniques in a supportive environment with guided feedback.

Co-teaching
(Apr - May 2027)

Teach half-classes alongside a mentor instructor to refine pacing, adaptability, and communication.

Solo teaching & certification (Jun - Jul 2027)

Lead a full-length class, complete written and practical exams, and celebrate with your graduating cohort.

Graduates complete the program with a comprehensive technical foundation, a clear teaching voice, and the confidence to guide students with professionalism and presence.

Your investment

Program tuition: $2,500 + taxes and credit card fees if applicable.
Payment plan: 10 monthly payments of $250 + taxes and credit card fees if applicable.

Tuition discounts adjust gradually until October 1st, 2026:

  • Now - June 30, 2026: 30% off

  • July 1 - August 31, 2026: 20% off

  • September 1st - 30, 2026: 10% off

October 1, 2026, tuition returns to $2,500 + tax and fees.
